This is a new sea front villa in the area of Skafi, in Skyros Island. The site is defined by the old threshing floor, an old pine tree and the virgin landscape around it. We designed the house as a micrograph of a traditional village. An outside corridor covered by a pergola acts as a ‘road’ linking the sleeping rooms on the one side and the living room/kitchen on the other. A vertical axis/staircase links the car park at the top of the site and the circular threshing floor in front of the living room. Exposed beam ceilings, latticed wooden balustrades, wooden stable doors etc. are all details relating to the rich tradition of the island of Skyros.
